Unless draperies are a very current style, we often recommend removing them.  As you can see in these before and after photos, removing draperies makes rooms feel lighter, brighter and more spacious.  They also allow buyers to see the beautiful window and cornice trim that they might otherwise be hiding.

Don’t forget to stage your bathroom as well.  A beautiful shower curtain, white towels, colorful pieces of art and a cute accessory can bring such beauty!

We always recommend that rugs be removed from carpet for staging.  Often, buyers can think that rugs are hiding stains.  Rugs can sometimes make rooms feel smaller as well.  Here, removing the rugs makes a big difference in how big the rooms look.

When a room has a chair rail, especially with a darker color painted below it, it makes the room very heavy and keeps the buyers eyes around the base of the room.  When you remove the chair rail and do a continuous paint color on the entire wall, it gives the room a lighter, airy feeling, making rooms feel bigger.

Sometimes just a lamp and piece of art can do wonders for a space!

Suspended ceilings are not a favorite for most buyers.  While they are sometimes expected in basements, they should always be removed on the main level of a home.  Look at the difference it made in this kitchen! (The new wall color and granite countertops may have helped a bit, too!)

In this first group of photos, the red draperies and dark beige walls create a very heavy feeling.  We had the homeowner paint the walls a lighter neutral and replaced the draperies with neutral.  Instead, we brought in just a pop of color with the orange pillows on neutral rental furniture.

In this set of before and after photos, the wall color could not be changed, so we added that color in as an accent pillow on the rental furniture so that the color feels intentional.

In this last set of photos, we simply swapped out the bright red accents for a softer pale blue which will appeal to a larger range of buyers.
